-Director: Brad Peyton -Screenplay writer: Carlton Cuse -Story writers: Jeremy Passmore -Stars: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Carla Gugino, and Alexandra Daddario Plot Summary: "In this high-octane thriller, the infamous San Andreas Fault gives way, producing a devastating earthquake across California. A highly skilled helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) races to save his ex-wife (Carla Gugino) in Los Angeles before the complete destruction of the city. After one daring rescue, the pilot flies north toward San Francisco in search of his estranged daughter (Alexandra Daddario), racing against time and the inevitable aftershocks that promise to devastate the coastline." - Written by Daniel Gelb My Thoughts: Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I expected it to be just like any other disaster movie, but I was left in shock at how real the entire thing was. It wasn't just the special effects that made the disaster hit home, but incredible acting and plot decisions. By watching this film, I was faced with the cold truth of how people react to devastation, and also warmed by those that strive to help others. I could write an entire paper on this film's excellent use of parallelism to convey important themes. The story was well constructed. All in all, the film did a great job showing the darkness and light of humanity and the bonds between people. Verdict: Must see! |
