Unfortunately, I hadn't played Smash Bros. in years and I have never played on a Gamecube before, so I wasn't much of an opponent. Nevertheless, I had a great time.
So, while I was thinking about what to blog for today, Smash Bros. instantly came to mind. I played a lot of this game as a kid, and my brothers were often grounded from it (my mom thought it made them violent... It did). However, as I play it today, I realize there is a lot your can learn from Super Smash Bros. about life.
Here goes.
1. Sharing is Caring
Whether you are in kindergarten or in college, this rule holds true. If you die, pass that controller to the next person so they can also get their butt kicked by Loreto (Loreto is one of my best friends, just so you know). It makes everyone happier, especially if you don't have to steal from someone else just to get in a round of Smash Bros.
2. Just Do It
I had homework to do today, but I was pretty stressed out. Sometimes it is better to take a break and take a turn on the controller for a bit. Kicking someone's virtual butt can be a great stress reliever.
3. Confidence is Key
Have the confidence to play video games in the middle of the music building. People will probably think its cool anyways! In general, just do you! You will be surprised how many people prefer it.
4. Don't Get Selfish
Loreto got teamed up against because he kept winning and therefore didn't give up the controller. No worries, they got him out after a few rounds. Just because you are good at something, doesn't mean that you should act superior. (Loreto, I say that from the bottom of my heart. Love you, man! He really wasn't that bad, guys.)
5. Learn to Counter
I kept dying in under five minutes because I had no idea how to counter attack on a Gamecube. In the real world, you need to learn how to stand up for yourself and effectively express your opinion. That's what's going to keep you from dying in a burst of virtual sparks.
That's what I learned from Super Smash Bros.! By the way, if you want to buy the game (for the Wii), click on the link below. It is pretty fun! Maybe I can convince my brothers to pitch in and help me buy it...
