I've recently become obsessed with knitting. It is absolutely ridiculous because I just taught myself over winter break. All I want to do is try new things from my Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter book. It takes me forever to knit, but I don't even care. There is something relaxing about it. I'm not sure what it is, but using your hands to create something has a truly soothing effect.
My first knitting project was pretty simple. I made a little Gryffindor book scarf for my friend. It took me way too long to make it (1 week) but it turned out to be quite cute! She loved it, and I'm happy I got to learn a new skill and make a friend happy! In order to make the book scarf, I knitted in the round using four double-pointed needles. It probably would have gone faster if I didn't make my first project using the round... It was fun though!
Right now I am in the middle of making knee high socks. This summer, my family and I are going to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I am so excited! I have already sewn my brother's Gryffindor robe! The three of us want to go as Ron, Harry, and Hermione (We've done it at least two years for Halloween). So, I am in the middle of making costumes! I figured out that it is a bit cheaper to make your own; plus, it is a lot more fun!
For my costume, I am going to make a robe, uniform socks and sweater vest, and I am going to wear a collared white shirt and gray skirt. I found a tutorial for the time turner on Pinterest, and think I might give that a whirl! Does anyone have any more ideas on how to make my costume more authentic?
If you want to buy Charmed Knits, here it is on Amazon! It is a bit expensive, but that is because it recently went out of print. It is definitely worth the buy if you are into knitting and Harry Potter!
