Acne is a pain in the butt. If you are like me, you have tried everything from store-bought cleansers to toothpaste. Here is a list of things that actually work, and how I cleared up my skin.
1. Go to the dermatologist
I know you don't want to hear this, but acne is a skin condition and should be treated as such. I didn't truly get rid of acne until I got a prescription from my dermatologist. It takes a few months to kick in, but when it does, it works. It doesn't just clear up your acne, it clears up your skin in general. Those pesky red spots? Gone.
But you have to work at it.
Now that I got that out of the way, here are a few things that you can do to clear up your skin outside of going to the dermatologist.

| 2. Buy Cetaphil! Cetaphil is the holy grail of all lotions. It works like magic, and I am not exaggerating. A huge thing about clearing up your skin is keeping it hydrated. Cetaphil is perfect for that. I used to have rough skin on my upper-arms and shoulders and then I used Cetaphil one night and it was completely gone in the morning. Completely. Especially at this time of year when your skin can get pretty dry, this lotion can be a lifesaver. Thankfully, it is also light enough to use on your face without feeling like it's just sitting there. |
3. Moisturize in general I know I just talked about Cetaphil, but this needs its own point. Dry skin happens everywhere. Don't just moisturize your face and be done with it. If you want great skin, you need to moisturize your legs, your arms, your chest, and so on. You will be surprised at how much happier you will feel. Now Cetaphil is a bit expensive, so I would suggest using a different moisturizer for your legs or anything below your chest. I use Vaseline intensive care lotion with aloe. It works really well and does not sit on your skin. The link I provided to the right is for a big bottle. It will last you a long time. | |
| 4. Exfoliate Once a Week In order for your skin to be healthy, you need to get rid of that dead skin, even if you can't see it. You don't want to do it more than once a week though, because that isn't good for your skin. I prefer to use a sugar scrub; you can find them just about anywhere that sells shower stuff. It works really well and makes your skin feel all smooth. |
5. Drink Water!
Your skin needs to be hydrated from the inside out! Plus, drinking water can help you loose weight. There really isn't a loss on this one!
